Durham Key Options

(this link will open in a new window)

Who can use the service?

Anyone who has been accepted onto the Durham Key Options housing register and has an “active” application will be able to bid for a home through Durham Key Options.

To apply to join the housing register you must complete a housing application form. Application forms can be obtained from any partner landlords offices (please see How to contact Us) or by downloading one from this site (please see Apply to housing register).

When you are completing your application form you should ensure you complete all sections and provide supporting evidence where applicable, or your form will be returned to you for completion.

Who cannot use the service?

You cannot use this service if you have not completed an application form and been accepted onto the housing register. If your application is held on the Review list due to anti social behaviour, rent arrears or poor landlords reference you will not be able to use Durham Key Options.

There are also some people who will not by law be eligible to join the housing register. These are:

  • Certain people who are subject to Immigration Control under the 1996 Asylum and Immigration Act
  • Certain people from abroad who are not subject to immigration control but who are not habitually resident in the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or the Republic of Ireland
  • People (including members of their household) who have been guilty of unacceptable behaviour that makes them unsuitable to be a tenant.

For more detailed information contact your local partner landlord.
