Properties are advertised each week. They are advertised in the following ways:
In various public places throughout County Durham (please contact a partner organisation)
A dedicated DKO property newspaper available in distribution outlets across County Durham
The advert will tell you the following information:
Landlord
Where available a photograph of the property or a similar property type is provided and you can access information about the local area and facilities.
Any special requirements that the applicant must meet such as, age requirements and which application bands will be given priority for the property. If you are not in the application band stated you can still apply for the property providing it is suitable for your family size.
A range of symbols are used to tell you about the property, such as a few examples below:

The minimum or maximum age that an applicant must be to apply for the property (age restriction will be displayed within the icon when viewed on the Property website or the Newsletter)

|
The property is wheelchair accessible or has been adapted and priority will be given to households assessed as needing these adaptations. |
Once you are registered on the DKO scheme you can place bids on the property you are interested in by one of the following methods:
You will need to have your Durham Key Options reference number and your date of birth to hand when making a bid.
You may only apply for a property that is suitable for your family size. Click Step One-Registration for further information. In some circumstances it may be possible to apply for a smaller property than you are entitled to as long as this does not result in overcrowding and as long as this is stated on your housing application.
Properties will available for you to bid on from a Thursday morning (one minute past midnight) until the following Tuesday (one minute to midnight), you can bid for a property at any time during that period. You will not be able to bid on a Wednesday.
You will be able to bid for as many properties as you like during the time they are advertised. You will only be able to bid for a property that is suitable for your family size.
